PRD RADEYE
PRD RADEYE
Thermo Scientific RadEye PRD personal radiation detector is a highly sensitive, pager-sized instrument designed for security forces, first responders, and industrial personnel to quickly and discreetly detect and localize radiation sources, particularly man-made “orphaned” or illicit sources
Highly Sensitive Detection with Intelligent Alarming
The RadEye PRD is 5,000 to 10,000 times more sensitive than a typical electronic dosimeter, utilizing a highly sensitive NaI(Tl) scintillation detector to find even very low levels of radiation. Critically, it employs patented
Natural Background Rejection (NBR)technology to distinguish between artificial radiation and naturally occurring radioactive material (NORM) like granite or certain building materials. This eliminates nuisance alarms, saving valuable time and increasing scanning throughput, so users only act when a real threat is present.
Configurable Material Identification
The detector doesn’t just alarm; it identifies the general nature of the discovered material, distinguishing between natural and artificial sources. This identification capability can be configured based on the user’s skill level or operational requirements, from a simple 0-9 level gauge to more detailed gamma ID classification.

Rugged, Compact, and User-Friendly Design
Designed for real-world operations, the RadEye PRD is small, lightweight (around 160g), and drop-resistant (to 1.5m with the protective rubber sleeve). It has a large, clear graphic display and a simple, intuitive, menu-driven interface, allowing essential functions to be accessed even while wearing protective gloves.

Discreet and Reliable Operation
For covert operations or noisy environments, the device features both audible, visible (large top-mounted LED), and built-in vibrating alarms, along with an earphone output for silent notification. Its low-power technology ensures a long battery life (over 500 hours on two AAA batteries), and automated self-checks minimize maintenance requirements.
