Geotron (Chemtron prior to 1987) is a manufacturer and supplier of geophysical equipment and has been servicing the industry for over 50 years. The commitment to design, service & a dedicated team, has ensured a successful partnership and becoming one of the major geophysical instrumentation companies in the Southern Hemisphere.
The only manufacturer of proton magnetometers in the southern hemisphere.
To date, Geotron has manufactured over 1,200 magnetometers ranging from the G1 in 1973 to the G5 of which >600 have been built. >500 G41 Resistivity meters have also been built. More than 100 Borehole loggers have also been built in this time including many specialized instruments such as EM and Radiometric systems.
- The client base consists mainly of exploration companies such as Anglo American, de Beers (>90 magnetometers), Diamond Corp, BHP Billiton, Exxaro, and almost all government Water Affairs Department in Africa uses our equipment. Geotron is the only manufacturer of proton magnetometers in the southern hemisphere.
Accredited Agents and Service for Global Manufacturers
Besides the equipment manufactured, Geotron is the accredited agent for many major manufacturers in Canada (Scintrex, IFG, Radiation Solutions), Europe (Bartington, ECA Hytec), Australia (Monex Geoscope), and China (PQWT). The advantage of purchasing equipment from Geotron is that service and repairs can be done in the fully equipped factory with qualified Electronic Engineers. Only in specialized cases, is it necessary for the equipment to be returned to the manufacturer for repair. Training on Gravity Meters has been done in Canada.
